This distinctive 26-story building, built as a residential hotel in 1926, is one of the earliest examples of Art Deco architecture in Philadelphia, characterized by tall slender towers joined by decorative arches and topped off with poly chromatic terra cotta tiles. The building was given new life in 1984 when Historic Landmarks spent millions to create The Metropolitan, a landmark for luxurious apartment living. The building blends the best details of the past with cosmopolitan amenities and conveniences. Today, The Metropolitan is one of the most preferred residential buildings in town.
